Josh is profoundly knowledgeable of nuanced aspects and subtleties of every Marvel movie, even the bad ones. In his free time, Josh enjoys listening to the Vulfpeck song "Funky Duck" and being bossed around by his baby niece and nephews of whom he is immeasurably proud.
Dr. Josh Brody
Josh is the lab PI and runs the Lymphoma Program at Mount Sinai. He completed his MD at SUNY Stony Brook, internal medicine residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital, and postdoctoral fellowships at Stanford in the labs of Ed Engleman, Jonathan Pollack, and Ron Levy.
He came to Mount Sinai in 2011 to develop a translational cancer immunotherapy lab and build the Lymphoma Program. The lab has been highly productive, translating novel therapies from mouse models into early phase clinical trials and publishing in high impact journals, such as Nature Medicine, Blood, and Cancer Discovery. The lab has been fortunate to receive funding from the NIH, the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation, the Cancer Research Institute, the Lymphoma Research Foundation, and many industry collaborators.
Ivan Odak
Ivan is a postdoctoral fellow in the Brody lab. He did his PhD in Hannover Medical School in Germany. Now, his research revolves around studying the mechanisms of antigen escape in cancer. When not trying to outsmart cancer cells, Ivan is exploring all the cuisines NYC has to offer. He is currently looking for a squash partner. His grandma used to say that he is handsome and smart.

Moah Sohn
Moah is a Postdoctoral fellow with the Brody Lab. She completed her PhD in immunology focused on dendritic cell biology at Yonsei University in Korea. Her postdoctoral work focuses on elucidating the mechanisms involved in T cell killing resistance of tumor cells. Moah is also a veterinarian, loves traveling, and is an extreme foodie. Chunxi Wang
Chunxi received her PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University. She joins the Brody and Brown labs in her postdoc. She is now working on using CRISPR screening to identify key genes regulating LNP entry into tumor cells. Outside the lab, she loves visiting vinyl record stores and collecting rare vinyl records. She has three cute fluffy chinchillas.

Matthew Lin
Matt is a seventh-year MD/PhD student in the lab interested in helping CD8 T cells clear antigen-mixed tumors. He hopes to incorporate gene editing and precision immunology into clinical practice as a physician scientist. Prior to coming to Mount Sinai, Matt studied Biological Sciences and Genetics at UConn. In his free time, Matt is discovering new dishes to cook, beating his friends at word games, or roaming around the city. He is always on the hunt for new Spotify playlists, nerdy memes, and a great vibe.

Gabrielle Lubitz
Gabrielle is a fourth-year PhD student in the lab. Hailing from the Upper West Side, she traveled to Morningside Heights, majoring in Neuroscience at Barnard College before heading southeast to work as a technician researching stroke immunology in the Anrather Lab at Weill Cornell. At last, she has returned to Mount Sinai (where she was born!) and joined the Brody Lab, where her project involves defining the signature of a cross-primed T cell in lymphoma in situ vaccination. She firmly believes there is no problem a good cup of coffee can’t solve and loves going to concerts, traveling, and taking long walks around the city in the spring.

Nicole Hirsh
Nicole is a third year MD/PhD student in the Brody lab interested in improving the effectiveness of CAR-T cell therapy against breast cancer. She graduated from the University of Michigan in 2021 (Go Blue!) with a B.S. in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology and spent her gap year living in DC/ working at the National Cancer Institute. For fun, Nicole likes to try new bars and restaurants, travel, workout, go to concerts, and read. Believe it or not, she also hiked Machu Picchu with a torn ACL, a lot of ibuprofen, and ample silliness.

Judit Arvelund aaaaaa
Judit is a Postdoctoral fellow in the lab, nowadays working very remotely. She did her PhD in clinical and experimental immunology at Linköping University, Sweden. Her postdoctoral work focuses on the development of an improved in situ vaccination maneuver based on an oncolytic virus and Flt3L to increase dendritic cell-mediated tumor antigen cross-priming. Outside of work she enjoys hosting a dinner party with good friends, loves a good travel adventure, and dreams of mastering multiples languages.

Outside of science, Kristy enjoys temperate weather and completing half of the Saturday NYT crossword.

Mark Aleynick aaaaaa
Mark is a former PhD student in the lab. He majored in biotechnology at Rutgers university, and was a microbiologist at Reckitt Benkiser before coming to Mount Sinai. Mark's thesis project focused on the dendritic cell - T cell axis, and utilized high throughput screens and in vivo tumor models to better understand how we can leverage adjuvants to improve cancer vaccines. He also served on the leadership team for GRO-Biotech, Mount Sinai’s biotechnology club. When not thinking about science, Mark plays saxophone in a band, and likes to spend time in the great outdoors. His favorite inspirational quote is: "Sometimes science is more art than science." Mark is currently a postdoctoral fellow at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals.

Ranjan Upadhyay
Ranjan is a former MD/PhD student in the lab. Originally from Texas, he majored in biomedical engineering at Columbia University. Ranjan’s project involved using CRISPR/Cas9 screens to study anti-tumor T cell resistance mechanisms. He found that the death receptor Fas can mediate T cell bystander killing of antigen-negative cancer cells. He loves to go on long runs and to pretend like he’s unbeatable at poker. He judges people who say “you all” instead of ya’ll. It’s just inefficient. He thinks a beautifully controlled experiment is better than chocolate cake.
